Daisy's Dog Diary Introduction

HI!!!!!
My name is Daisy! I am a pit bull mix livinig in Chicago, and this is my dog diary. YAY!
My brother and I were rescued from northern Kentucky (wherever that is) when we were just 13 weeks old. Very nice people from Wright Way Rescue saved us from doggy death row and took care of us for a few months.
Last December (2008) around Christmas I was adopted! YAY!
Daddy fell in love with me before he even met me! I love the internet! After a brief car ride where I had some french fries from McD's( my favorite!), I was finally home!
I had water and food right away, but I was very nervous. I'd never been in a home...you know? After that, it was a snuggle time! YAY! And I knew then, that this was going to be my forever home! I give mom and dad kisses all the time!
Yes, Life is good now and I want to share all my experiences with every one. I hear blogging is the way to go. So, I'm starting my own dog blog.
Wish me luck as I learn all I need to learn to be the best dog I can be!

The house training has been hard because this winter was soooo cold and I have short hair! After 3 months, my accidents are few and far between and I am very proud of that!I felt so bad every time they had to clean up after me.
I am still very shy around people except mom and dad and auntie Angela. Dogs are a totally different story! I'll show you all the pictures of my doggy friends!

My parents take training very seriously. They say they learned a lot from "How To Be Your Dog's Best Friend" by the Monks Of New Skete.
The monks of New Skete have been breeding and training German Shepherd dogs for years and they share their knowledge with all of us through books and DVD's.You can learn more about them here. newsketemonks.com
Mom and dad taught me some basic obedience. I can sit, lie down, crawl, shake, high five and play dead. I am now working on roll over!
I know!! I am pretty smart!

Another area we are working on is loose leash walking. In the beginning, I was so scared, I couldn't even go around the block around our condo.First of all, it was bloody cold, and there was the EL train! Since we live right next to this Elevated train thing, I had to hear the noise every time we went outside. I used to have problems with people with hats on (weird, huh?), passing buses, traffic cones, new doors, etc.
I am doing much better with walking. Well...now I pull sometimes. But it's only when I catch a smell! I can't help it, I am a dog!!
My parents recently got me an Illusion collar by the Dog Whisperer guy on T.V they watch all the time. Oh, yes, we are going to have a review on that pretty soon!

Until next time, thanks everyone for reading and remember to adopt shelter dogs!!
