Dog Friendly Park- Montrose Dog BeachFinally!! It's warm enough to go to the beach!!
The Good: It's easy to find! Drive north on Lake Shore Drive and get off on Montrose, follow the winding road a little more north and you will start seeing the dogs all over the place. There is a wooden walk path down to the area and also another gate on the south side of the beach. It's clean and beautiful! Thanks to everyone picking up after their dogs promptly and the garbage cans located within this beach, it can stay clean. The water was clear and cool and you just can't beat the view! Just look at these pictures!
The Bad: crowding and excited dogs. We visited Montrose beach on a Thursday morning and there was enough room for all dogs. But we could see how crazy it could get on weekends. Most dogs were running really fast (including Daisy) and that could cause some problems. Unlike other dog parks where the sizes are rather small and controllable, this beach is very spacious. If you lose sight of your dog even for a second, it's hard locate them. Catching up to them can be tricky if your dog does not have a good recall. Leave little kids at home. They might get trampled.
The Ugly: NONE! It's a beautiful, well maintained beach with a ton of room to run. We should all try keeping it that way. Overall, Montrose Beach gets 4 paws up from Citypits staff, especially Miss Daisy. she was so disappointed to leave and we had to promise her ice cream at home to get her in the car.
