Pit Bull Rescue Story : CoCoa
Hi, friends! Welcome to another happy tail of Pit Bull Rescue Story! Cocoa, a 4-year-old chocolate female lives in New York state. To say she had a rough start in life is an understatement. Here is how she found her forever home! Oh, Hi, there! |
I was saved from my old home a few years ago. After Angel Chris Rock(my mom's other pit bull) was rescued from his abusive home. Let me tell you a little bit about him
Angel Chris Rock went through something NO dog should ever experience. He lived in a Yorkie-sized kennel and stood at 13 inches tall and weighed 10 lbs at the age of 1 1/2 years! You were literally able to count every rib, every spine knuckle, every bone in his body! After one week with mom, he gained 25 lbs and grew 7 inches. In the end, he stood at 23 inches and weighed 56 lbs. Mom never spoke to the former owner who once had been her friend.
Me and Chris Rock |
Chris Rock was put to sleep in 2007 from a neurological and spinal injury caused by an accident. He ran up the porch steps too quickly and hit the railing really hard. What happened to him was really sad but he had 4 magnificent years with mom and left great memories behind for us to remember him by. We miss him everyday.

Well, back to my story. I was also treated horribly. I was barely fed and chained up in the bathroom all day long. The bathroom I was in wasn't even big! One of my mom's friends told her that he knew someone who had a nice chocolate Pit. Mom was thinking about finding a companion for Chris Rock. Mom's friend said he hadn't seen his friend (my owner at the time)or me in months. Anyway, mom went to visit me and immediately was infuriated. I was skinny, puny, and afraid of everything. I was, apparently, the only dog in the house that was treated cruelly. Why? Because I was being trained to become a horrible dog. One of those vicious dogs. Like the ones Michael Vick once claimed as his.
with Angel Mia | Thank God my mom came around early enough! The whole "Rip-Other-Dogs-Apart-Until-One-Of-You-Dies" thing wasn't fully sunken into my head when she rescued me. I had some scars for about the first 2 years of my life but they're gone now. I wasn't treated as horrible as Angel Chris Rock was, but it was horrible enough. But look at me, now! I'm an awesome dog. The friendliest dog imaginable!

Cocoa's living the doggy life of spoils and snuggles! she's also great at agility. When she's not busy being a star in the agility ring, she likes to catch up with her beauty sleep whenever she can!
We'd like to thank Cocoa for sharing her story. Please pay close attention to Signs of Illegal Dog Fighting Operations in your neighborhood. Like Cocoa, if they are rescued early enough, there is hope for every Pit.
